We are actively looking to increase our board of trustees.
Do you have skills, local knowledge or anything else you can bring to our organisation?
We understand that people may not be able to commit a vast amount of time therefore we only ask that you are available to attend regular trustee meetings, what additional contributions you wish to make is at your convenience.
Trustee training can be provided.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic began in March 2020, we grew and have developed a working relationship with Paul Green, a community volunteer who set up and runs the Knottingley Food Hub based at the Kellingley Social Centre. We have worked and committed to the Knottingley Food Hub since it was set up to assist in making up and delivering food parcels to local families who had began struggling, elderly residents, people who had contracted Covid-19 and people who were isolating or shielding and not able to go out shopping. From March 2020 - date we have delivered and provided lifelines to over 1,500 local people. These people include elderly, adults and children.
As part of our support for the Knottingley Food Hub, we also joined their volunteer program and assisted with work in and around the local community. From gardening services for people struggling due to the pandemic (community gardening service for the elderly and isolated where there gardens would be tidied up and grass/hedges cut at no cost to the residents), collection and delivery of medication for over 150 elderly residents and those in isolation, meals on wheels, clothing bank collections and collections of food donations from local businesses, residents and local authority and have provided befriending to over 240 elderly residents who have had no contact with anyone whilst in isolation. We also worked again with the Knottingley Community Hub and local MP Yvette Cooper with a book scheme that was also launched at the start of the pandemic, where books were donated and then distributed to children and adults who applied online in Knottingley, Ferrybridge, Castleford, Eggborough, Brotherton, Byram and surrounding villages.
During the last 12+ months, apart from the 3 months we were able to run indoors; we continued with Detached Youth Work in all the areas where we operate. Staff carried out daily Detached Youth Work, weekly in Kirk Smeaton, Fairburn, Knottingley, Ferrybridge, Byram, Brotherton, Eggborough and Kellington. Staff engaged with young people and continued to encourage them to follow government guidance and not congregate in public places or on the streets in groups; and to Stay Home, Protect the NHS and Save Lives.
Our Detached Youth Work reached out to 1228 young people during lock down 1 and 2.
WE’RE BACCKKKK!!!
Following the guidance from the National Youth Agency (NYA), from Monday 12th April we are able to start running our indoor provisions!!
*personal belongings MUST be kept to a minimum
*we ask that ANY young person who is unwell, displaying any symptoms of COVID-19 or has been in contact with anyone with COVID-19 is NOT brought to session
Please see the post which will follow for this weeks sessions!!
We are continuing to take all Hensall session bookings via the 'book now' button on our main Facebook page. We have chosen to use a booking system so we can ensure there is no overbooking on sessions when messaging us directly to book places! It is proving a great success so far!

Are you aged 13-21 and live in West Yorkshire?
If so, there is an exciting opportunity for you!
The West Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) are looking for young people to join their West Yorkshire Youth Advisory Group (YAG).
This group gives young people the opportunity to express their views and opinions on local policing matters and gives them a more active say in how they are Policed in West Yorkshire.
The group also provides opportunities for young people to take part in new initiatives and improve and enhance relationships between young people, the Police Crime and Commissioner and the Police. Not only that but it also looks great on their CV too!
What does it involve?
• At present, Skype meetings 4 times per year - usually on a Saturday morning
• The chance to share personal knowledge, opinions and experience of community issues
• The opportunity to provide advice to help the PCC improve policing and ensuring people are safer and feel safer
• Take part in workshops and learn about key policing topics included in the Police and crime plan

The Youth on the Move project will start back up week commencing 7th September 2020. Please keep your eyes peeled on here for the venues that will be open that week and each week following.
However, as the Covid Readiness Level is currently at an Amber rating (as per the National Youth Agency guidance) we will only be allowed 15 young people to attend a session at any one time. To make this fair, we will be operating a booking system on a weekly basis, this will be on a first come first served basis, once the session is full then that will be it until the following week.
The booking system will start on the Monday of each week at 8:30am, but we will make you aware again with our regular post. The 15 limit could change, this is all dependant upon the current Covid Readiness level and also the government guidelines, as you can understand, this is beyond our control so we have to adhere to this guidance.
When sessions do return, they will be shorter and things will be very different. We will operate Covid security measures which will consist of a track and trace form upon arrival to be completed by parents, temperature checks of young people on arrival, a hand washing station and hand sanitising stations in the venues. All of our equipment and venues will be cleaned prior the session, during and also after to limit any contamination. Social distancing will also be enforced whilst on session. We will also have an extra member of staff on at each session to ensure all of the above is being adhered to and our sessions are as safe as they can be. We will provide you with additional details regarding sessions in the coming weeks.
We have been lucky enough to secure some funding from the West Yorkshire Police Crime Commissioner to run a project called 'StreetWize'.
The project ran from Kellingley Social Club for 12 weeks, delivering workshops around alcohol, drug and substance misuse and related anti-social behaviour.
The club ran on Monday evenings 7:30pm - 9pm for young people aged 11 to 19 years old.
Our Youth Representatives have been working hard planning our next projects.
The last Afternoon Tea projects ran by the youth reps held at Kellingley Club, Eggborough Village Hall and Brotherton Village Hall were a huge success! And we have been in high demand since. So, we have booked in more at the same venues!
The venues, dates and times are as follows:
Eggborough Village Hall
Brotherton Village Hall
Kellingley Club
To book places please contact 01977 607242
We have been working with BassStream radio, a radio station set up by volunteers from Leeds, the DJ's run and play at big events locally and nationally and are extremely saught after. They give their time free of charge to attend some of our youth provisions and show the young people how to mix, beat match, write lyrics and create their own music with some of the leading production software. We have just agreed a program that we will be rolling out at other clubs over the coming months. Exciting times ahead!
We would like to say a huge thank you to Morrisons, Knottingley for their generous donations for our Youth Clubs.
Over the coming weeks our young people will enjoy pumpkin carving along with other Halloween themed activities and games!
Coming soon!
We are preparing our team to undertake outreach and detached youth work in the communities we currently work in. Further updates and start dates will be confirmed soon!
